Questions people actually ask before they switch the phone over

What ChatnCall agents do, what changes on your side, what it costs and where the data lives. If your question is not here, ask us directly — we answer plainly.

What ChatnCall is and what the agents actually do.

What is ChatnCall.ai?

ChatnCall.ai is an AI agent platform for customer-facing businesses. One agent answers your phone calls, your website chat and your WhatsApp Business number, using a knowledge base you supply, and completes actions such as booking appointments, capturing leads and handing conversations to your team.

What is the difference between an AI receptionist, an AI voice agent and a chatbot?

They describe the same underlying technology in different roles. An AI voice agent is the phone-line implementation. An AI receptionist is that agent doing the front-desk job — greeting, answering, booking, transferring. A chatbot usually means text on a website, and often follows a fixed flow rather than holding an open conversation.

Which channels does ChatnCall support?

Three: inbound phone calls, chat on your website, and WhatsApp Business. All three share one knowledge base, so the answer a caller hears matches the answer a WhatsApp customer reads.

Do the agents answer from my own information?

Yes. Answers are grounded in documents, price lists, policies and website content that you upload and approve. When a question is not covered, the agent says so and follows your fallback rules rather than inventing an answer.

What happens when a customer wants a human?

You define the handoff rules — by topic, by request, by hours. The agent transfers the call or the thread with the conversation context attached, or takes a structured message and alerts the right person if nobody is available.

Does it work in languages other than English?

English is fully supported today, and the underlying models handle many major languages. Tell us which languages you need and we will confirm what is realistic for your channels during a demo.

What changes on your side, and how long it takes.

How long does setup take?

Most businesses go live in days rather than months. The technical connection is quick; the work that determines quality is assembling your knowledge base and agreeing the handoff rules.

Do I have to change my phone number or provider?

No. The usual setup forwards your existing business number to your agent — always, only when unanswered, or only outside hours — so nothing changes for customers and you keep your current contract. A new dedicated number is also available.

What do I need to prepare before onboarding?

Opening hours, services and prices, policies, your most-asked questions, and a clear view of which calls should always reach a person. If you already have a website and a price list, most of the work is done.

Can I test the agent before customers reach it?

Yes. There is a test console in the portal where you can call and chat with the agent, hear exactly how it answers, and refine the prompt and knowledge before anything goes live.

Can I change what the agent says after launch?

Yes. The business prompt, knowledge base and handoff rules are all editable from the portal, and changes take effect on the next conversation.

Do I need developers?

No for the standard setup — channels, knowledge, calendars and handoff are configured in the portal. Developers are only involved if you want webhooks or the API wired into your own systems.

Bookings, leads, broadcasts and the record of every conversation.

Can the agent book appointments?

Yes. With Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook connected, it reads live availability using your durations and buffers, offers real slots, writes the appointment and confirms it during the conversation.

What details does it capture from a conversation?

Name, contact number, what the customer wanted and any fields you configure — saved as a structured contact record with the full transcript attached, and available in the portal or through your CRM integration.

Can it send messages out as well as answer them?

Yes, on WhatsApp, through approved message templates and to contacts who have opted in. Confirmations and appointment reminders are the most common uses.

Is every conversation recorded and transcribed?

Every call, chat and message thread is logged with a transcript and the outcome, so you can listen back, read what was said and see what the agent did next.

What does it do when it does not know something?

It says so and follows your fallback rules: take a message, capture details for a callback, or transfer to a human. Refusing to guess is a design principle of the platform, not a configurable option.

Can it handle several conversations at once?

Yes. Unlike a human receptionist, capacity is not one conversation at a time, so a spike after an advert or an outage does not create a queue.

What it costs and what you are signing up to.

How much does ChatnCall cost?

The full rate card is published on the pricing page — monthly plans, onboarding fees, overage rates and add-ons for the UK and India. Nothing is hidden behind a quote form.

What happens if I go over my included usage?

Usage above your plan is charged at the published overage rate for that plan rather than being cut off mid-conversation. The rates are listed alongside the plans.

Is there an onboarding fee?

Yes, and it is published with the plans. It covers configuring your channels, loading and structuring your knowledge base, and testing the agent before go-live.

Can agencies run ChatnCall for their clients?

Yes. There is an agency and white-label route for managing agents across multiple client businesses from one workspace — the agencies page covers how it works.

Where conversations live and who can reach them.

Who can access my conversation data?

Your business data is scoped to your workspace and reachable by the users you invite. The security page describes the access controls and the practices behind them.

Is ChatnCall GDPR-compliant?

ChatnCall is operated by Shafinity Private Ltd, a UK company, and is built for UK GDPR obligations. The GDPR statement covers lawful bases and data subject rights, and a data processing agreement is available for procurement.

Can I get a DPA for my procurement process?

Yes. A controller–processor data processing agreement is available on request — the DPA page explains what it covers and how to request it.

Which third parties are involved in delivering the service?

Telephony, messaging, speech and language model providers are used to deliver the channels. The subprocessors page lists them.

Are calls recorded, and do I need to tell callers?

Calls are transcribed and logged so you have a record of every conversation. Notice requirements depend on your jurisdiction and use case — the greeting is configurable so you can include a recording notice where you need one.
